Illustrations

So right now I am working on my ‘Metamorphsis Knit’ project with Jess Quinton. My project is inspired by ‘My Abortion’ by Tracy Emin. It is a very quick ball pen sketch and somehow this sketch really kicked my mind off, so I decided to base my whole project and collection on pregnancy and abortion.

However, I am NOT going to design garments for the pregnants, the garments are still to be worn by everyday women with confidence, because the colour scheme is BOO-RIGHT! (Yellow, Aqua and Black). Yes, I stayed away from the cliche red and pink because I didn’t want to use those colour. They can be for something else.

Anyway, enough said, the reason I am posting this mainly is to kick off a little link with The Swelle Life. So I am just uploading some illustrations I have done since starting the Fashion Knit course at St Martins as the first of my more frequent work related post.

Century Knit: A 2 week project, investigating a certain decade of the 1900s and producing a piece of knitted accessories showing your signature knit, or the style you work in. (I have not put in the illustrations of my accessories because I have actually posted the pieces from a photoshoot in my first post in this blog)

White Project: This is the project which everyone from Fashion BA first year has to do. We were taught how to pattern cut as well as sew on the industrial machines for first two weeks. And with those knowledge we were given three categories to base our project on. I chose ‘Traditional borderline’ and I researched into Gormley’s sculptures. (The last illustration is the garment which I have made)

Metamorphsis Knit: This is the project which we can research on anything that changes. We are encouraged to work from existing garment if we do not know how to construct one purely with knit. I have done a balero using a baby suit. It came out a little too sweet, but I will be posting photos soon. Anyway, I have made the first two illustrations into actual garment.

I hope this post has been a good feast for your eyes before I come back with more knit knit knit.
